Our
history
Since 2013, redefining the
tea culture in Ecuador.
Amatea was born with a clear vision:
to transform the way Ecuador experiences tea.

The beginning of a dream
Amatea was founded in May 2013, at a time when loose-leaf tea was not yet a common part of Ecuadorian consumption.
Founded by Jennifer King, after international training in tea culture, it emerged as a project that sought to go beyond simply offering the product.

From the beginning, its purpose has been to educate,
awaken the senses and build a new
relationship with tea.
Pioneers in loose leaf tea
In a market dominated by tea bags, introducing loose-leaf tea wasn’t a trend, but a conscious decision.
With over 85 varieties of natural teas and infusions, Amatea marks the beginning of a new category in the country.

Origin that is respected, quality that is assured
Each blend is born from a rigorous selection of raw materials sourced from Ecuador and around the world.
Traceability, respect for origin, and the constant exploration of new combinations define each creation.

Origin and hands that make it possible
Many of our herbs in Ecuador are harvested by women in various communities throughout the country, preserving knowledge and care at each source.
Amatea is also a company built primarily by women, where attention to detail and dedication are essential to every process.
